The Jedi Code is the law by which all Jedi are bound to follow in the Jedi Order; it exemplifies the ideals of the Jedi prescribed in the movies and books of the Prequel Trilogy Jedi Order of the Old Republic. It is our mission to adhere to it, to help people adhere to it, to use it for controlling ourselves through self-discipline, to use it for gaining knowledge, and to use it to spread peace everywhere. It is our words, our commandments, our code of chivalry. We shine with it, and we use it to shine light on the world.
There are two versions of the Jedi Code, both of which we follow. They are identical except that one contains an additional line. The meditations of Odan-Urr have led to the following Jedi Code being constructed:
- There is no emotion; there is peace.
- There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
- There is no passion; there is serenity.
- There is no chaos; there is harmony.
- There is no death; there is the Force.
The fourth line was taken out of the original script of Star Wars, hence reading:
- There is no emotion; there is peace.
- There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
- There is no passion; there is serenity.
- There is no death; there is the Force.
For our deepest interpretations, we use the one originally constructed by Odan-Urr. The fourth line is considered by us to be as important as the others. But out of honoring Star Wars and what was done to it, we consider the four-lined one to be the real Jedi Code. Thus, it is displayed at the top-right corner of our webpage.
Interpretations
Younglings in the Jedi Order {J} clan are expected to fully comprehend the Jedi Code. We do not require memorization, but in the process of interpreting it, you may find that you will eventually know most of it by heart. Jedi Consulars will teach you their own interpretations of the Jedi Code. You may also use the forums for asking about it. It's important that you understand it, because you will need an understanding before you may ascend to the rank of Padawan; it's also essential to every Jedi.
