Member Groupings
The members of the Jedi Order are divided into various sections, many overlapping:
Jedi Initiates The initiates of the Jedi Order, dubbed the "Younglings," are the unranked members of the Jedi Order. These members are listed here.
Jedi What this website defines as the "Jedi" is all of the ranked members of the {J} Jedi Order. This includes all Padawans, Knights, and Masters, of all Jedi types. Excluded are the "Younglings," who have no official ranking in the clan. These members are listed here.
The Jedi Service Corps While in the Star Wars Universe, a member of the Jedi Order whom a Jedi Knight or Jedi Master did not choose as his or her Padawan by 13 years of age, that "Youngling" could join another sector of the Jedi Service Corps as in the Agricultural Corps, the Medical Corps, or the Exploration Corps. But for a clan's purposes, these other Corps do not exist. A member joins the Jedi Service Corps when he or she reaches the rank of Jedi Knight and on in the {J} Jedi Order clan. These members are listed here.
The Council of First Knowledge The Council of First Knowledge gives advice to any Jedi who seeks it and handles matters requiring the wisdom of past Jedi Masters or Council members. Its members are listed here.
The Council of Reconciliation The Council of Reconciliation seeks to find peaceful settlements to political disputes within the clan or other clans in Jedi Academy. Its members are listed here.
The Reassignment Council The Reassignment Council handles the organization of work for young Jedi who have not been chosen by Jedi Masters to be Apprentices; it manages the younglings. Its members are listed here.
The High Council The Jedi High Council consists of (or should consist of) twelve noble Jedi ranked Master or Knight. These members are the government to the clan; they are listed here. You may also know from the ranks page that there are three different types of High Council members; they are listed as follows: lifetime members, long-term members, and limited-term members.
By Rank
Hopefuls Hopefuls are not yet recruited, hoping to get into the Jedi Order.
Younglings Younglings, the unranked members of the clan, still in training.
Padawans The Jedi Padawans are Jedi-in-training under specific masters.
Knights "The Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice …" (Obi-Wan Kenobi).
Masters The Jedi Masters are the great, powerful, wise members of the Jedi Order.
Member Status
The Jedi Order understands that its vast number of requirements and other pressures can overwhelm people. To keep our members going strong, we allow them to take an "idle," "away," or "extended away" status. "Idle" is generally defined as "here," in the clan, but too busy to play often. Players with this status might only play once or twice a week for less than the time we require. "Away" is generally defined as not being able to play or be active on the forums for one–three weeks (usually for a vacation). "Extended away" is generally defined as being at or longer than a month, but expected to return eventually.
